Working with Security

You can control users' access to the perspectives and their permissions to do specific operations in the Administrative console.

To create a user group:

  1. In the "Users" perspective, select "User Groups".
  2. On the toolbar, click "Add User Group".
  3. In the "Add User Group" window, specify the "User group name".
  4. Click "OK".
  5. In the User Group editor, check the perspectives users of this group should have global access to.
  6. Check the operations, users of this group should have global permissions for.
  7. Click "Save".

To create a user:

  1. In the "Users" perspective, select "Users".
  2. On the toolbar, click "Add User".
  3. In the "Add User" window, specify the "User name", "Password", "Folder" and, if needed, "Email".
  4. Click "OK".
  5. In the User editor, on the "Permissions" tab, under check the user group(s) you want to assign the user to.
  6. Click "Save".

In the multi-user website building scenarios, it always makes sense to control who can access specific areas in the CMS Console and how much a person can change in that area. Console users can be assigned to user groups granted specific access and specific permissions.
